Has anyone had a go with one of these yet?

Any feedback?
I saw one in Singapore but wasn't quite ready to hand over the plastic until I found out if they live up to the hype....

finally the GoPRO has reached a better resolution in the movie mode.
Reading the specs the CMOS sensor is promising however the fixed lens is maybe something some user might find limiting.
Let me know how the movies turn out compared to your TS1 (BTW there is a new Panasonic TS2, just released)

I've ordered one of these with a 12 inch riser - http://www.stickypod.com/my_stickypod_details.html - and will mount my Lumix there for a few experiments, and Rob has ordered the GoPro Surf HD, so we'll get a pretty good comparison.
My original Lumix has died, but only because I smashed the lens. The camera still works, it just takes Alfred Hitchcock photos. After 9 months of hammering, it has only a tiny bit of corrosion on the springs to the outlet ports, otherwise perfect, with plenty of dings & whacks. Good camera for what we do.....

Jeff Jenning's latest YouTube clip here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXiIih24hJY&feature=channel was partly taken with the GoPro HD and looks remarkably good. I bought a GoPro Wide and found it reduces all waves to mere wavelets :-) The standard lens GoPro is far better than the Wide.

Thanks Geoff awesome video from Jeff Jennings top quality and it made me homesick as hell as I grew up on the West Coast of Tassie in Zeehan and spent most weekends and school holidays farting around in an old canoe all about the Harbour there

Thanks

Yea, it does very nice quality, considering how tiny that gadget is!
I am the one in the video who goes arse-up & in the drink, in one moment of inattention!
All captured in such great quality!!
...are we there yet?

Well, Jeff's video was indeed a pleasure to watch.

I had a gopro hd hero thingie used for mountain biking and whilst it did the job well in capturing the action, the size was a bit of a problem(helmet mount). As seen on Jeff's video, it isn't really an issue on a Kayak or at the end of a big stick (what a great idea). I also recently purchased a vholdr contour 1080 HD camera as well and it's the one I now use pretty much all the time. It's smaller, a good deal more flexible with mounting and whilst the video is pretty much on par with the gopro and fast motion a bit smoother. I sometimes find the colours a tad too saturated - but most will like that. Sound quality is nothing flash on either unit but heck, they are a lot of fun (at first)....

A Warning though.... Nothing clears a room faster than the words "I'll just pop this on the TV" and you'll often find yourself alone in front of the TV at 2 in the morning - some hours after the rest of the family disapeared. Ah yes, and the joy of loading and editing a 16gb HD video file onto the laptop....Chewing little scrunched up balls of tin foil helps dull the pain.
