Hi Guys,

My husband and I have just forked out for our first sea kayak and are looking for advice on good spots.

We are wondering where to go

1) if we are taking out our small kids (only 2 and 4 yrs) so need safe places. The kids sit pretty still in the kayak, but we still wouldn't be comfortable to go far from the beach or bank with them as they are so young.

2)some more adventurous spots for when we get to escape by ourselves (we have done seakayaking around whitsunday areas before - so have some sea experience, so we are not complete beginners. We are looking for places around Melbourne, and we are based in the Mitcham, but have car - will travel!

Thanks in advance for any replies : )

Hi,

To get the kids accustomed to yakking, Lysterfield Lake is not too far from you and is a nice safe lake with bbq facilities, toilets, nice picnic areas.
Also has a small take away shop thats usually open when I go there.

Cheers,
Paul.
